The persecution and Assassination of Jean-paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de SadeMarat Sade, written by Peter Weiss and originally directed by Peter Brook in 1964, is a fictional recreation of the story of the assassination of Jean-Paul Marat by Charlotte Corday after the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror in the 1700s. It is a fictional recreation of the story of the assassination of Jean-Paul Marat by Charlotte Corday after the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror in the 1700s. In the play the script has been written by the Marquis de Sade who is the father of Sadism and this will also be kept intact however the Marquis will be a major ferocious rocker who is violent onstage. Many "bands" will represent a variety of philosophies and states of mind. The piece was extraordinary in its time because it takes place in an insane asylum and most of the characters are inmates. Our production will take place in a juvenile facility where young criminals and mentally ill are shoved together without any regard for who they are or how they are treated. They will, however, reenact the exact play as it was written, the difference is that it will be sung in heavy metal, punk and alternative rock as well as reggae, rap and ska and any other forms that reflect the rebellion and sensibility of this generation. Although the text is that of Peter Weiss, the atmosphere and spirit will be that of 2012, our purported doomsday, and we will try to deal with the issues of revolution in our world as well as the abuse and neglect of young prisoners and mentally ill in almost all of the institutions in our country. Everything will be sung and the actors will play many different roles, including those of the inmates. The actors will participate in every aspect of the creation of this show including the musical composition and costumes. It will be an extremely eery, dark, and yet humorous evening.
