Porfolio Requirements for Dual MBA/MFA Degree in Producing

Kanbar Institute of Film and Television (Film Producing)

Application Deadline M.B.A/M.F.A. Film Producing Program in NYC: December 1

In the Fall of 2008, New York University inaugurated a new program that brings together the renowned Stern School of Business and the Tisch School of the Arts in a dual degree three years plus program that will grant the M.B.A. and M.F.A. in Film Producing.

A filmmaking background is not a prerequisite for admission to the Tisch School of the Arts. We are looking for potential creative filmmaking ability as evidenced through visual and written material.

The application for admission should be filed online. The resume and personal statement should be uploaded when you file. Recommenders should use the online system as well. Transcripts should be gathered and sent in one single package to the office of Graduate Admissions. A creative portfolio package is required and should be received on or before the deadline for the particular program you are applying to.

M.B.A./M.F.A. DUAL DEGREE PROGRAM IN FILM PRODUCING (NYC CAMPUS)

The M.B.A./M.F.A. degree is a three year program (including two summers) that will enable students to pursue two degrees simultaneously. It is expected to attract the very best producing candidates by focusing on both the creative and business sides of film. Designed to be the most comprehensive of its kind, using the top faculty and resources of each school, the dual degree program will produce highly employable individuals sought by the major film studios, independent production companies, and major television studios and networks.

The portfolio preparation and application instructions for this program will be identical to the Film Production program in New York City. Additionally, applicants will need to file a separate application to the Stern School of Business. Applicants should go to http://www.stern.nyu.edu to apply. The Stern application deadline is January 15th; the Tisch School of the Arts application deadline for Graduate Film is December 1st. The student qualifies for the M.B.A./M.F.A. dual degree program upon admission to both schools.
