UGFTV Advanced Television Production Screenings

Dearborn & College Dropout

Join us for a screening Monday, May 13 at 6PM, Room 006, of the two thirty minute television pilots produced this year. All faculty and students are invited. For those without NYU ID cards allowing them access to 721 Broadway please contact Harry Winer at hw54@NYU.edu to ensure you will be able to attend.

Advanced Television Production provides students an opportunity to learn and experience how television pilots are created in the industry. From over twenty scripts submitted two thirty minute television pilot scripts are selected to go into production. The writer/showrunner assembles a team of collaborators who work with them in class during the semester to bring the scripts to life. This screening is an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishment of all involved in these demanding productions.

THE PHILOSOPHY OF A COLLEGE DROPOUT created by Cassie Carlyle
A young woman battling depression drops out of college and leaves her well-to-do, over-bearing family in New York and escapes to South Dakota where she hopes working for her college roommate’s sketchy uncle in a gas station market  will find her peace. She learns fleeing her problems doesn’t remedy them.

DEARBORN created by Leila Bustami
When a young woman is expelled from college and forced to return home to her tight-knit Arab community in Dearborn, Michigan, she tries to restore her reputation and regain her mother's trust. However, complications arise when she becomes entangled in an alien conspiracy initiated by an eccentric woman residing in the building.
