Tisch Initiative for Creative Research
What does "research" mean at a school like Tisch? What do students and faculty need to produce their most rigorous work? How do we encourage radical experimentation, provocative collaboration, and thoughtful reflection?
These are just some of the questions we think about every day. Welcome to Tisch Creative Research!
Research at Tisch takes many forms - some traditional, some idiosyncratic, some still rendering. All of it shares one basic characteristic: rigorous inquiry.
It can be other things, too - interdisciplinary, collaborative, multimodal. But when we think about how best to serve the research needs of the Tisch community, that's where we start - with the central idea that artists are researchers who generate new knowledge.

Collaborative Impact Grant
This grant empowers dynamic partnerships between Tisch Faculty and Students/Recent Alumni, driving innovative and interdisciplinary projects that address critical global challenges and foster equitable collaboration.

Tisch Creative Research Faculty Publishing Grant
This new grant supports full-time Tisch faculty in bringing their artistic and scholarly works to publication. By covering some publication-related expenses, this collaboration between Tisch Creative Research and the Center for Research and Study will facilitate dissemination of these important works.

Creative Research Assistant Opportunity
Now in its second year this program facilitates pairing Tisch faculty engaged in creative research (artistic, hybrid, scholarly, transdisciplinary, etc) projects with undergraduate federal work-study students to provide a unique opportunity for both parties.

HEAR US is a mentorship and grant program that supports Tisch student projects through financial support and one-on-one guidance. HEAR US welcomes projects from all students in all disciplines, and at all stages of development. Tisch faculty and alumni play a crucial role as mentors and panelists, fostering a community dedicated to inclusive storytelling.

The Catwalk Art Residency provides a unique, low-tech residency opportunity for Tisch Alumni, Faculty, and Staff (with a graduate degree) to write, reflect, and create on a historic 70-acre property in Catskill, NY.
